President's Message

20 Feb 2010

Greetings and welcome to the National Guard Association of Minnesota website. Thank you for visiting and showing your interest in our organization and its efforts.

The primary focus of our organization is the improvement of benefits for all the Minnesota National Guard Soldiers, Airmen, their families and employers. We do this through a coordinated effort to ensure our voices are heard at the State and National levels of Government.

We have a small group of volunteers that watch and report Minnesota legislative issues that may affect our members and take action when needed or requested by our members. If the issue needs National attention, we bring the issue to the National Guard Assocation at the National level for implementation. We start this through resolutions normally initiated at the Soldier or Airmen level. When these issues affect many states, our National level association brings our intentions to Senators and Representatives for action.

Though this process can take some time, we as your State Association is the best mechanism to bring the issue to State and National leaders because we speak with numbers and the passion for the improvement of benefits for Minnesota's nearly 14,000 citizen Soldiers, Airmen, their families and employers.

We as an assocation are made up of members and retirees of the National Guard volunteering their time and effort in the pursuit of the resolutions and intentions of the members. We ask anyone who is interested in assisting us, contact your group representative (contact link on home page) or myself at kent.porter@us.army.mil , we can always use the assistance in helping the other members of the Minnesota National Guard.

Kent Porter
President, National Guard Association of Minnesota
