This reduction is a direct reflection of the efforts of the associations, especially the Enlisted Association, for the past several years. DoD refused to adjust the premiums for health care insurance despite ample evidence that the premiums were far higher than they needed to be.
Our Congressional Delegation supported the change, The 2009 NDAA required DoD to change actual cost for premiums, and now we can provide even more affordable health care coverage to our service members. This is another great news story that will help get and keep members in boots.
